What is creativity anyway?

Have you ever had the thought,
"I'm not creative.
I can't even draw a straight line"?

If so, you're not alone.
Many people think that there is some essential relationship between creativity and the ability to make art. If they can't paint like Picasso, sing like Josh Groban, or sculpt like Henry Moore, they don't dare claim to be creative.
It feels like an arrogant thing to say about yourself, if you're not an expert, not making a living from your creations, not well-known and publicly acclaimed for your imaginative gifts.

Why, when creativity is our very birthright, do so few of us feel creative?
Why, when we're asked to think of someone creative, do we rarely think about ourselves, but of the public figures that have defined creativity over the years?
We think of Monet, Mozart, Jackson Pollack, Martha Graham, Ansel Adams, always the figureheads, when the real truth is that every one of us is a born creator.
That's the hallmark of being human: the ability to create, to turn something invisible into something visible, to forge a poem out of a feeling or a song out of a sorrow.

Creativity is the vivid expression of who we are in the world--our imagination begets our thoughts, our thoughts beget our words, our words beget our actions, our actions beget our experience, our collective experience and expression begets our culture.
Each of us is contributing to the creation of the cultures we participate in.
The world is not divided into two groups of the creative and the uncreative.
If there's a distinction, it's between those who are creatively productive and those with unexpressed potential.

We're creative by default.
We're genetically predisposed to create.
Each of us, to varying degrees, is intrinsically motivated to create, to be original and to solve challenging problems.
The question to ask is not, "Am I creative?" but rather, "What inspires me to create?"

Personal creativity is not about intelligence or information.
It's about inspiration, from the Latin spiritus, meaning "breath, courage, the soul."
Creativity is about being fully alive, living courageously, or as the painter Joan Miro´ says, "Expressing with precision all the gold sparks the soul gives off."

When is the last time you felt fully alive?
What is it that calls forth your courage and trumps your fear of sharing your soul?
Knowing this is the key to discovering the creativity that is waiting to be expressed through you.

  1. Many people surely thought that they are not creative enough,if ourselves are creative, why sometimes we can't even think of any creative idea at all? So,they started to lack of confident when doing a thing.

'We're creative by default.' Yes,we are. Everyone of us belong to our own categories. For instance, you shouldn't expect a beginner painter can draw the standard level of some famous artists such as Paul Cezanne, Marc Chagall, Edgar Degas and Pablo Picasso. Some of their artworks, only a few people around them appreciate it which called as novelty. Some people probably like the song composed by beethoven, but some of them think that beethoven's songs not as good as Mozart's songs. This is because everyone has different judgement, but people dont appreciate your work doesnt mean that you are weak in creativity.

Creative people aren't mean that they are extraordinary, an intelligent person who is full of knowledge. The important thing they should have the ability to visualize, imagine, and make mental transformations.
A creative person doesn't mean that he/she must be the creator. They can be an inventor too. In my opinion, I believe that everyone has an ability to make themselves as an inventor. "All our knowledge has its origin in our perceptions".It depend on how we express it and show to others. Somehow, you can turn a very simple thing into a unique and special useful tool.

  2. Creativity is not something that a person can buy from the shop. Some of us would actually have the creativity but we don't know how to express it. Straight line is not necessarily needed to be creative. Picasso's drawing is not having straight lines all the time. People who doesn't know about drawing or painting would thing that it his paintings are just a scribled painting. But actually it is a way of expressing himself. Creativity is not something narrow. It way too wide that we can't define a meaning for it. Everyone has creativity of their own. For example, way of studying, way of dressing, drawing, thinking, coloring and so on. Each and everyone in this world are creative in their own way.

  3. Creative talent not a birthright actually it's practice like how the saying says "practise makes perfect".It is a learning process where you can learn to be creative by following someone.Instance we are old time of people who can not be like nowadays person. This thing can be learnt by looking at current people and be like them.Being creative needs lots of observation. We observe stuffs to become creative. On the other hand some people are born with this creativity so sooner they have changed as creators and leads people to the creative world. We also have to change our mind settings to be a creative person so that one day we can change others mind by our invention. It will take some time to people who do not born as creative person but somehow by practise they surely can reach the roots of creativity before they reach for the top of the tree which is creativity!thank you!

  4. What is creativity for u?
--> 1st question we get from the lecturer in the 1st lecture.
Well, some people will say that Creativity is NEW. It's means idea that Never Ever Wear by others. Some people may think that creativity had to be create something very extraordinary.
Something that should be done without any reference.

But for me, Creativity is unlimited, but it's unnecessary have to be a brand new idea. In a project doing, there is nothing that can be success without proper research and reference. Me, personally agreed with the way to do research before doing design or creating any artwork.I can do my work without using any computer software(hand draw), but~ never ever without refer to the researchsSSSS.

Creativity can be define in a metaphoric way.
"Creativity is like a cat chasing it's tail."
    - In order to create or solve problem in creative ways, we often go round and round in endless circles wanting to pounce on an idea. To find the solution, we just have to look at something familiar in new and different way.

So people, just look around urself, mini changes make big difference.
    Be creative!!! xoxo♥ =D
